I was sick with COVID for the last week in a half, and just now recovering. I’m at a good 96% as I write this, and let me tell you something it will humble you!!!
I first thought it was my allergies acting up because that’s what they do, especially as the weather changes. BUT, I was also out and about at the Day Trip Music Festival (see previous post), but the people around me didn’t get sick. My roommate also got sick but was out doing her own thing, so I don’t even know what happened, or where, but it doesn’t matter because IT IS STILL OUT THERE!
I woke up with a sore throat, and at first I thought it came from screaming at the festival. My roommate said she wasn’t feeling good either, so she took at home test and it showed positive. It just made sense that I had it also because as the days went by the sickness progressed!
I had chills, but no fever, no appetite (lost 10lbs, that I’m currently trying to gain back! 😦 ….), cough (was really bad), brain fog, some fatigue, and a runny nose. I have never felt this sick ever in my whole life, and I don’t get sick often, so this was humbling for me. I would be in bed, not wanting to move much, and I felt very unproductive. Then one day, I started feeling a little better and began working out and eating more food (my throat was feeling better). I was reminded of why I love movement, oh and FOOD! I felt a huge sense of gratitude for being able to workout. My body felt amazing, although I felt weak, my mind felt clear while I was sweating out the toxins. It felt so good to work up a sweat!
I took an epsom salt bath (almost every day) because it felt good on my sore and tired body. I made sure I had PLENTY of water, and by plenty my hair, nails, and skin were the only things thriving during this virus. I actually have to cut my nails, because they’ve gotten so long because of my water intake, and of course not having sweets (outside of my protein shakes), to help eliminate inflammation. Sugar, alcohol, and dairy are like the worse things to consume in general, especially while your sick! As much as I want a vegan ice cream sandwich right now, I’m waiting until I’m at 100%.
Anyways, I just wanted to share my COVID experience, since this was my first time in the ring with it. The reading and hearing of the symptoms is one thing, but of course when you experience it you’ll be like what?!?!?!?!?! DAAMMMMNNN!
I want to encourage everyone to keep up on your booster shots. Now, it is your choice to do whatever YOU want to do, but as mentioned this is just to encourage those who thought about it, but are hesitant, or are “too busy”.
You don’t want to have to deal with these symptoms that’s all! Be stubborn if you want to…
It was horrible!
