The All High and Mighty and Miserable…

Some of ya’ll really crack me up. You say all the bad things of the world, yet you still succumb to it in some way shape or form. You know why, because you are still Human, and not perfect, and will never be perfect. Whenever I see people like this, it makes me appreciate the person I am, because I’m not perfect, nor do I try to be. My goals, and my true purpose in life and that’s to LIVE and LOVE the life I’m living. That should be a simple tool for each and one of us to use when referring to how we should live our lives. NO ONE IS COMING OUT ALIVE, so LIVE, and LOVE. I can guarantee you’ll appreciate your life much better. This of course comes to letting go of control, and your ego.

Go ahead and limit yourself, but how do you feel when you do, miserable right? It is okay to be cautious, but to do so in fear defeats the purpose of living. I cannot say how I choose to live is the best way, but no one can, because we are all different. The way that things may affect you and your body, may not do the same for someone else. Think about the different animal breeds we have, we are all not the same, we don’t all act, and react the same. This is one of the reasons why I choose to keep things as general, yet real as I can. We can all read the same book, but we will all gain something different from it. This is why I feel diversity is necessary, sharing and learning from each other is how we will evolve. Acting all high and mighty will make you miserable. Think about all the people who you believe is powerful, they are miserable. Think about the super conscious people, miserable, the poor, miserable, the rich people are miserable, the happy or the sad, and its understandable, trust me I get it. We live in a world that has allowed a lot of us to become miserable because of all the different shit we learn and observe, but it doesn’t mean to stop living. Don’t lose the human touch because you think you are God. No one is. We hold a special piece, and it is up to you on how you use that power, but don’t do it in misery. Instead do it out of love. There is a huge difference.

So, LIVE, beautifully, unapologetically, but not in misery. Remember just like the food we absorb, we absorb our feelings too, which is just as bad. Don’t forget about your feelings. Just like the food we eat to nourish our bodies, we have to nourish our feelings too. So keep that in mind. The body is our temple, but what about your mind, your soul, your destiny?

Limit yourself if you want, but remember LIFE is for the Living…

DreadLock Update Month NINE!

Holy Chitpotle Guacamole y’all! It’s been 9 months (April 11th) since locking my hair, where is the time going?!?!?!?! I seriously almost forgot about this months update, but here I am. My babies are everything!!! I remember feeling a little anxious and nervous, a few months back, but as time went on, I don’t even think about it anymore. Me locking my hair, as I mentioned before, has opened my mind to other things. I don’t have time for my hair, because she doesn’t really require it, except washing and caring for her as usual, but not styling so much has helped me to work on other, more important things in my life right now. Maybe I can go a little deeper into that (using time wisely and such) but anyway…

I went swimming the first time with my locs about a week ago, at night, in a heated pool LOL. I honestly haven’t had that much fun in awhile. I didn’t worry about my locs one bit. They are at the point of no return. I was confident that my locs would be okay and they were.

My hair dried, in which I washed and conditioned the next day, and viola nothing bad happened. I’ve heard a few stories here and there on not swimming in chlorine water, but in all honesty, it didn’t quite make sense to me, so I ignored those stories, and did it for myself. I’m not going to allow anyone, nor my hair, limit me from having a little splish splash fun LOL. I still used the VO5 to wash (yeah yeah its cheap, but so am I, and being cheap ain’t hurt me one bit). I also used a protein conditioner from Mango & Lime (stuff smells pretty good too). I then allowed my locs to air dry, after applying a little bit of extra virgin olive oil to seal in the moisture.

My locs felt sooooo good. I always allow the water to soak for a while when I’m in the shower, and I’ll squeeze out the extra water before getting out. None of these steps changed really for me, except I don’t use as many products as I did before when I had my fro out. Another thing I’ve began using, well 2 times so far, is the interlocking tool for the loose strands near the bottom. I had a few locs that had small strands of hair peaking through the ends, and it was okay, but I kept messing with it out of the habit of thinking and tugging the hair. I had to hide these strands before I pulled them out. We all know to not disturb the loc by cutting the strands as it is still a part of the loc and I didn’t want to mess that up no way!

By the way, I still don’t twist/ palmroll every month, like I did in the very beginning. I believe twisting every other month to every other 2 months is working wonders for me so far…..

So there you have it, another brief update. I still can’t believe it’s been 9 months, we are getting closer to the year. I’m still debating on dying my locs, I want different colors however, but instead I’m just going to add some decor to them and wait it out until I know for sure. So we will see….

Stay tuned for the next update and happy locing 😛

As I sit here….

With a sore butt!

I’m thinking about how important it is to check in with yourself. So many of of us are constantly on the go, and without breaks of really getting to check in with ourselves. I always think there is not enough time in the day, but the power that we have is to create the time we want! We have to make time for what’s really important, so never forget about yourself. You are as important as your daily tasks. In fact, you are more than important, you are loved, and those daily tasks wouldn’t even exist without you doing them. So you really have to learn to make yourself a priority, and take care of yourself first. Don’t be afraid to do so either dammit!

Take a step back, breathe, ask yourself questions, think of solutions, and be positive. It looks like you are already aware, because here you are. Obviously, we are here to grow, you know be adults and shit, yet you still need to do these “simple” yet rewarding things for yourself. Be S E L F I S H sometimes, it is okay, I promise! Have you noticed how lighter you feel when you do? This is why we need to check in with ourselves, we don’t realize what we are missing until it is missing, but it is never too late. Once you feel the need to slow down, it is the need to check in with yourself. Take a pause for the cause. Too many of us worry about the lives of others and lose the focus of our own. What a silly thing to do right? But also, what a wasteful thing to do. Take into consideration that when you are right with yourself everything else falls into place, simple yes, but truthful. What is meant for you will come on its own, and it is a beautiful thing to witness. Just remember how you are using your energy, and apply it accordingly. Be MindFULL! I know it is easy to forget, we are human and none of us are perfect. But what makes us beautiful is knowing that we are not, and yet we still strive to be the best we can be. Don’t lose your touch, EVER!

So do your homework, or in this case SOULwork, and check in with yourself. How are you feeling? why, how, and what can we do to change it? or enhance it…. We are our own worst critics, but we can be our own best coaches too.

Learn and never stop growing!

Don’t Fight The Feeling!

Don’t Fight The Feeling!

Represent it, and ever so beautifully….

We all have those days where we feel as if everything we do is not working. Why do we stress ourselves out like this? We are so mean to ourselves, and then expect others to treat us nicely. I don’t get that. We seriously beat ourselves up to the point that we don’t realize it, and all of a sudden our lives is spent on that type of vibe. We need to stop fighting ourselves, and learn to take it easy. Life is hard enough, so why add more stress?

Don’t fight the feeling. It applies to us in many ways, some of us don’t want to feel a certain way so we fight it, expressing ourselves in ways others may not understand. Other people may not fight the feeling, and maybe they are unsure of their feelings, maybe they don’t have any feelings LOL. Whatever the case, it is about application, and becoming more aware of our intentions. I believe it is best to not fight the feeling, but instead put good use to it. Our feelings are what makes us human. When you become more aware of your feelings, you begin to shift, and with the shift comes more understanding. So don’t fight the feeling, just represent those feelings, productively.

It feels better to be doing something productive, than to beat yourself up about it, right? Remember, it is okay to feel. Be mad, get upset, cry, laugh out loud. Whatever the feeling is, go ahead and be human about it, but then find ways to be inspired by it. Our feelings are what makes us human, so why not embody that. It is okay, so don’t fight it, or shy away from it. Learn to embrace it, and in a loving motivating way, for you, or maybe someone else. Not fighting the feeling, is learning to feel without acting. And if you must, do so with the intent to make others feel.

Let your feelings win the battle sometimes,

Loc Update: Month 8! :) (:

Loc Update: Month 8! :) (:

3/11/2017 Marks the 8th month of locking my hair, and I haven’t retwisted (as of yet). I am still on the less is more journey. So far, it is working for me. I have no desire to retwist on a monthly schedule, but only as needed. To be honest, I’ve always enjoyed the more relaxed, worn out look. Not too many people are comfortable with that, but to me, it is the most beautiful. I just enjoy the look of comfort, just as I do glammed up look. My routine still, and will probably never change, as I mentioned before. This is somewhat of the same routine I had with my loose natural hair. I do as needed. SIMPLE! I don’t believe in doing anything really in a routine way. We are not robots and should not behave as so. But to do things when needed, for me, allows more freedom and growth along the way. This is the same feeling I have towards my hair. Both journey’s, for myself, prosper more when I am relaxed. This means to go with the flow of things. Every now and then, I will do palm rolling, so my locs get the shape I want. Sometimes, I’ll find some that look a little flat, so I’m obligated to palmroll as I don’t want the flat look. After a good deep wash however, I don’t see any flat locs, and I’ll just air dry, and without retwisting. You’ll be shocked of how comfortable it is not having to retwist each time you wash. It is not always necessary, but to each its own.

So, there you have it. Another brief update. I am honestly looking forward to the first year 07/11/2017. I think I’ll be a little more excited then, but for now I am pleased with the progress of my dreadlocks, and thinking of adding some shells or beads for my 1st year or something. Side note…was also thinking of dyeing some of them, here and there. Don’t know yet, but I want to do something special for them. They deserve a little something something yes? We will see, all I know is the sun is coming out, and the summer time is going to be hot!

Money Makes The World Go Around,

But love will always make life worth living…

Money and love is what most of us want in life. But ultimately, it seems like we cannot have both, equally anyhow. We all think that these two will solve our problems, but sometimes these are the same two things that create them. We have to be more thoughtful into what we are putting in to our world. Sure money pays for a living, but love makes us feel like we are living. We have to learn to set aside the material to what truly matters. We all want, yet do we truly cater to our needs and those around us? Money can be just as blind as being in love, and combine the two we have paradise, or maybe a disaster. Be intentional when it comes to these life changers. Many of use don’t realize how we perceive money and love, so think about it and ask yourself. You can always make money, and from anything these days. But love, we need to be more careful, and in tuned with ourselves. Money comes and goes, but love will forever stay in your soul.

Just make it worthwhile.

Stop Pressuring Yourself…

Don’t be so mean.

You make these goals, just so you feel accomplished. But still, that wasn’t enough. You get more than one job, and take on any hobby that comes your way, and still it is not enough. Have you really thought to yourself why, or if you actually like these things. Or are you too busy trying to keep up with everyone else, by ignoring your true self.

Exhausting to think about right. It’s a word I use quite often, I think, exhausting… because a lot of “things” are meaningless if they lack feeling, and for me that is exhausting. I feel like it is important to try things, at least once, well depending on what it is. Coordinating different things in any part of your journey can be fun, and we should not pressure ourselves so much. We need to learn to flow with it…Go….With….The…Flow…as they say, ya know. This is something quite new to some of us, but ever get tired of that, putting so much pressure on yourself? It’s time for something new.

Sometimes you gotta let your goals accomplish themselves. You’ve already put in the work, so leave it alone. Step back sometimes, and let that shit marinate. Like a tender steak. You have to learn to give yourself time, and not think that results are going to happen as you please. The universe works wonders, but that’s just it. LET IT! Don’t be too busy wondering, just do and know that it is already yours.

Take it easy…
